Radio Calisthenics is a physical warm up session with music, originally from an NHK radio program which was broadcasted 6:30 am to 6:40 am every day. During the summer holiday children get together to do this session at school or a public square. There some schools that don’t hold these sessions. Please ask the school.

In Japan, elementary school classes include Kokugo (Japanese Language) , Mathematics , Science , Social Studies , Social-environmental Studies , Music , Arts and Crafts , Home Economics , Physical Education , Moral Education , Foreign Language Activities , Hours for Comprehensive Studies , and Special Activities .

Children write some texts and pictures on a picture diary for their memory. When they need to submit as a homework during the summer holiday, the paper for the diary may be set by the school. Please ask the school.

An essay on reading will be also written. Often the paper for the essay or books to read are set by school. Please ask the school.

During the summer holiday, children will be given homework and one research project. Children are allowed to choose a topic depending on their own interests. The project format is set by a class teacher, but often they submit it with a poster or a document.

Obon is an old Japanese custom on 13th to 15th August every year. During the Obon festival, we pray for the deceased family members in a grave yard. Therefore, there are days off in some companies.
